The Red Grade

Muslim. Malay. Singaporean. ‘Nuff said.

Simply Awesome!

Transformers was absolutely amazing!

The action was fast-paced. The flow of the story was smooth. The sequences were breath-taking. Seriously, you don’t have a moment to catch your breath ’cause the story keeps going at an urgent rate that the film consumes you.

And, of course, the CG was totally wicked! Photo-real, logistically the scenes were heavy and real well-planned. And I was really really glad the characters were very lovable, especially Optimus and Bumblebee.

I am seriously thinking of watching it again if I can find time from my work.

Watch Transformers! You won’t be disappointed.

Finally, We Are Accepting

Screenplayer is finally accepting submissions for their upcoming filmfest in late-September. It’ll be held in Pitch Black, located along Arab Street.

This filmfest is aimed to showcase Singapore’s indy filmmakers’ works and, more notably, the works of Screenplayers – a group of amateur and professional filmmakers who are enthusiastic and active in one way or another in the film industry in S’pore.

The filmfest is being organized by Refuge.

Tragic

It was a real shocker for me to find out that one of my favorite wrestlers, Chris Benoit, was found dead along with his wife and youngest son. He is one of the more enjoyable technical wrestlers I’ve seen on TV and had the honor and pleasure of meeting when he came down to S’pore back in 2002. I was really dumbfounded and after reading that investigators suspect it might be a double homocide-suicide, I just can’t bring myself to accept that Benoit would kill his wife and son. He was such a nice, polite and good man who loved his family so much. Everybody knows this. I dunno what could possibly push him to do that sorta thing or did he even do it in the first place. All I know is, Benoit will be missed very much and there’s no one presently in the WWE or elsewhere that has the technical prowess in the ring like he did.

God Bless you, Chris Benoit and family. Hopefully, you’ll find peace on the other side.

Your fan,
Hady

Been busy

Sorry for not updating the past three days, but I’ve just started work and it’s really taxing my freetime. I’m even lucky to cram this in just in time before work. I should be getting ready for work actually. Anyway, as an indy guy, I wanted to show my support for two indy filmmakers in making Four Eyed Monsters a success and maxing out their credit cards in the process. I’ve signed up on Spout by the way and if you wanna help them get back on their financial feet, you can do here by signing up for free here.

And here’s the free screening of their film. Enjoy!

The 24th Grade

Red Fist to Anant – May 28, 2007/via Gmail

Yeah, Man and I thought of meeting Marc, but we don’t have his email, so maybe we wait for you lah. Anw, you’ve been dealing with him more so you’re better at buttering him up. Oh, we did of course locked up your house. I hope you don’t mind we had a couple of your energy drinks from the fridge. Abt the meeting, Ian, Yen-Lyng and her sister came. So, five people was actually two more than what I expected. I’ve read Yen-Lyng’s script. Pretty gd. Ian’s working on a feature and he’s posted his previous feature on Screenplayer, which I’ve yet to read. I’ve just been having a lot on my mind. My friend’s in ICU now with a brain disease and I haven’t even visited him. I’m gonna do so tmrw. Dammit, I’m telling you man. This year has been anything but good.

The 23rd Grade

Anant Shiva to me – May 26, 2007/via Gmail

brilliant! I thought that the others would be sceptical about the
small scale screening but it looks like I was wrong! so if we can hold
a small screening in NP at the Preview theatre or something, that’d be
brilliant. so we’re gonna get in touch with Marc, I guess?
it’s also very heartening to know that people are putting up their
scripts and all. I wanted to put up Convergence but I forgot…I guess
it has to wait till I get back. who came to the meeting btw? I haven’t
checked out Screenplayer coz I haven’t had access to a computer for
the past few days…even now, I’m writing this on the Gmail on my
phone. so yeah, where did you guys meet up and how did it go and all?
Ok la mike, I gotta go now. btw, you guys locked the door to my place
and all properly right? I’m sure you did but I’m just asking haha…ok
man,cheerios!

The 22nd Grade

Red Fist to Anant – May 26, 2007/via Gmail

Yo dude,

I think you’d be happy to know that we’ve had our first casual meetup and it went better than I’d expected. You can check out my post on forum. Also, we’ve managed to convince the others to start posting up their work. You can check out. There is Yen-Lyng’s script and I’ve put my comic book prequel script up as well. We also discussed a little about the filmfest and we all thought that maybe we should do a small scale event first for starters and we thought we could hold it at one of the schools, most probably NP.

So, get back to me eh.

Hady
