Janitor is not Stupid

Although I won’t go to the Janitor’s extent, I know exactly how it feels like to be ridiculed and made seem like you’re inferior to another human being who’s no better, if not worse, than you. Ironically, however, my brother, who’s a doctor, never made me feel that way, but there are those who don’t even know me and think just because they’re higher up in a certain hierarchy that they’re better than everyone else below them.

  1. I am a janitor at a university.tThere are people, especially students who give you the stereotypical inferior look and then are too good to even give you a smile let alone look at you. I have my bachelors degree and am currently in graduate school online. Sometimes I would love to say to them:”just what makes you think that you are so much better or smarter than I am?”. It makes me irate when you get looked upon as being as dumb as a box or rocks just because you are a cleaning person.

  2. hey, it’s amazing to know that people like you are out there doing whatever it takes to make ends meet even though you have a degree. that takes a lot of control over your pride. but i salute you. yeah, i don’t get people who look down upon others just ’cause they have a piece of paper or they think they’re better than everyone else or they just feel the world revolves around them. and i live in a country where jobs are given to you based solely on a paper, not experience. that sucks. im just a diploma-holder, but many times i find myself knowing a lot more and doing better than a graduate who can’t even do simple paperwork or understand the mechanics of work. i used to work at Coffee Bean and Orange Julius and i get the look as well sometimes. thats why i always make it a point not to do the same unto those who are working as janitors or do dirty jobs ’cause in the end, they’re just human beings as well who are trying to make a living

  3. I think every teenager should work in the jobs we have, then as they mature and become adults, they may have respect for those who do menial jobs. Besides, they may appreciate life a bit more if they had to do some manual labor and understand how the laborers feel by being in their shoes for a while.
