Full Moon Has Set

my contract with Monochromatic Pictures officially ends today.

it’s been an interesting, engaging and worthwhile experience. i was brought in for the writing stage and i stayed on after production. i kinda like to think i was the first and the last.

anyway, it was fun working with Jeevan. maybe it’s cause he’s frm FSV, or maybe it’s cause our age difference isn’t that much, but it’s easy to relate to him and share ideas with him. much like with Raihan when i edited Yazid Pakai Lampin.

i wish i cld stay on and see Purnama till the end, but unfortunately, they can only hire me for so long. but of course, we both look forward to working with each other in the near future. possibly on some of the concepts i have in mind.

so now, yours truly is on the hunt again. fortunately, i already have two offers standing by – one from DV Studio and another from React Pictures. both of’em writing jobs. hopefully, i’ll be able to do both. i have to rake in as much cash as i can before the year ends. at least if i decide to take a break early nxt yr, im financially backed-up.

so, at present, though my contract has ended, i will still be doing the subtitles for Purnama, but that’s about it. i can’t wait to see the final product of this project.

Be sure to catch Purnama, premiering 13th Nov, every Thursday, 9:30PM, only on Suria!

New Hobby

when i was a kid, i was the typical boy fascinated by all the cartoons’ gadgets, gizmos and other whachamacallits. and being an 80s baby, i was of course exposed to cool cartoons such as Transformers, MASK, Silverhawks, Thundercats, TMNT and so on.

and while the US and the Soviets were busy having their arms and space race, the kids back then were busy with their action figure race. everyone was trying to up the other in acquiring the latest, coolest action figure/vehicle from the mentioned cartoons.

unfortunately, i didnt come from a well-to-do family back then and i was the kid who watched from the sidelines, wishing i could get my hands on one of those toys.

fast forward to 2008, now, alhamdulillah, i’m able to afford buying toys/collectibles on my own. unfortunately, most of the vintage toys are hard to find in local stores and hence, ive to purchase them online, which includes shipping costs and so forth. however, being a true fan, i endure these costs happily.

as of now, here are the toys i hv in my humble collection:
- Spider-Man action figure (from 90s Animated Series)
- Venom action figure (from 90s Animated Series)
- Optimus Primal Beast Machines
- Black Arachnia Beast Machines
- Jetstorm Beast Machines
- Optimus Prime Nightwatch Transformers Movie Leader Class
- Megatron Transformers Movie Leader Class
- Megatron Masterpiece
- Batman 13″ The Dark Knight
- Joker 13″ The Dark Knight

just this morning, i ordered three more collectibles: Superman (Red Son), Batman (Batman & Son) & Wonder Woman (Series 1)

i have more in mind and with more movies coming up, the collection is definitely gonna grow. but what worries me is the storage space. i’d have to wait till my brother moves out in order for me to install a display case in my room. even then, i dunno if my mom approves of it. oh well, one thing at a time.

im just happy i’ve a new hobby…

Purnama – DONEDED!

the Purnama shoot officially ended at around 3am on Sep 4, 2008

there was a small feast, consisting of puffs and brownies, but everyone was quite stoned by then, so we didnt stay long. a few hugs and well-wishes and we were on our way home. before that, there was the mandatory group photo of course, but i wish the other cast members had been there as well. oh well, thats the downside of doing an anthology. u dun get to mingle with the same people over a period of time.

so now, the post-pro stage of Purnama is upon me and my EPs. my contract officially ends on Sep 16, but i’ll be extended till mid-October, possibly, to make sure everything is packaged nicely. this is due to the simple fact that both EPs and editor are not Malays.

anyhoo, glad the shoot’s done. it was tiring, challenging and demanding. but we pulled through, despite the slight bitterness and harsh words tossed around, which is usual during shoots. but like football, whatever happens in the field, stays there, so we’re all still good.

now, my next project will either be with DV Studio or React Pictures…
