Which Dark Knight Character Are You?
Here are my results from BrainFall.com

You are Batman. You take your role in the world very seriously, and live up to your responsibilities diligently. You have felt pain in your life, and this pain guides you and reminds you of how important peace and safety is in the world. You train both your mind and body ruthlessly and have never called in sick for anything- EVER! You are naturally intelligent and are constantly sharpening your thinking skills and pride yourself on staying up to date on world events. It isn’t always easy for you to ask for help because you have a huge streak of pride in your soul, but you are not a fool- so when you need a helping hand, you take it! You believe in justice and help seek it.

The Review That Matters
i’ve been receiving reviews about Bismillah, many of which were forwarded to me by Qaboom’s friends and comrades. now coupled with the reviews i personally got at the end of the screening, this is my evaluation:
Esa does not belong in Bismillah.
it’s clear to me now that 2 huge mistakes had been made – a) Qaboom should have enlisted a more conventional filmmaker/story-teller; b) i really kid myself to think that a film like mine is marketable to a “smart” audience that claims to be “thinking”.
reviews have been coming left and right about how confusing and contradicting Esa was and people left the theater, scratching their heads – these are the same people who come back with reviews that demonstrate how they can be phased by simple English spelling and grammar, so it’s not surprising to me that they’re not able to grasp the theme of Esa – connection.
but these people are not totally at fault. i was a fool to think that the general populace of the Malay community are ready to actually think for the first time when they’re watching something. i was a fool to think that when they switch from television to a film screening, they would set aside their usual appetitie of spoon-fed information and entertainment for something with a hell of a lot more substance.
oh heck, even German Expressionism, Italian Neo-Realism and French Impressionism took time for people to gulp down and truly appreciate its magnificence and art. so, i’ll be patient. besides, it took me 3 years of intensive and extensive study and research so that i could fully understand the craft. so it wouldn’t be fair to expect these people, who’re used to gorge down $10-for-a-bottle-of-wine kind of stuff for years, to appreciate it in a day.
bottom line, i’m not going to make any changes to Esa and if it’s not marketable, then it doesn’t belong in the Bismillah DVD
